BASCA's New Campus

BASCA’s New Campus

BASCA ‘s 25,000 sq. ft complex on the corner of Stowe Ave. and Smith St. was officially opened on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 with festivities that included a ribbon cutting, tours of the complex and refreshments. Ribbon Cutting was done by Ken Liechty Board Chair and founder, John Cone. Tours were conducted by BASCA staff with refreshments served by the Auxiliary.

Prominently placed in the outer entrance is a plaque acknowledging the donation by the Bryan Family Advisors of the Henry & Lucy Gooding Endowment.

Now that renovations are complete the 25,000 sq. ft. allows administration and programs to be domiciled within separate areas. BASCA’s unique Life Skills programs will offer the special needs individual an expanded opportunity to participate in an actual work environment.

Murals on display are done by noted artist Sophie Dentise. “The Giving Tree” greets visitors in the entryway. In the product display area of the Bargain Boutique “BASCA’s Wall of Color” is a design unique to Florida. Donations for coloring in an item of your choice on this mural are now being accepted.

With the new building and expanded programs comes a need for additional volunteers. Consider donating time that will reap benefits to the special needs individual and your community.

To schedule a visit, volunteer or to sponsor an item on the mural please contact Pam Mylrea at 904-541-1742.
